I expect nothing less from a culture of people who buy a new cellphone every 2 years. Longevity in consumer products is not something we optimize for anymore.


Cell phones are new enough that they still change noticeably in a couple of years. Refrigerators are not.


Modern fridges are much more efficient than ones from 20 years ago. They're not changing as fast as phones, sure, but they're not static.
