There are probably over 100 IRC clients that don’t require arcane commands and you certainly don’t need to keep your computer on all the time.

mIRC is an IRC client that has been around for 24 years and makes IRC very easy.

I stopped using IRC about 20 years ago but I got a lot of knowledge out of my time on DALnet and then Undernet.
