One of the worst I've seen was title editorialized from original "Someone: something [x.com]" to just "Something [x.com]".

Not surprised, considering how bad it is. Even the simplest tasks trigger a safety. I couldn't imagine paying for it extra.

My though process:

1. These abstract product visuals are not helping me understand what this software is

2. Wait, it's all about these renders, it's some kind of a joke

3. I don't understand, this can't be real, I need to check comments

Just to add, the regulations you mention aren't even about AC, it's about modifying buildings' "looks". You can still install AC if you figure out where to put the outside unit - roof, balcony, inner yard, ...

Not everyone has the ability to install personal unit where they live, that's true, same way they can't install satellite dishes for example.

Outside air temperature isn't an issue. It's not like people drop dead the moment it hits 40. The problem is that after a few days of that everything is heated up through and you have no place to escape it. That's new and hasn't been happening before.

But "somewhat longer heatwave" isn't as scary sounding as "HOTTEST EVER RECORDED TEMPERATURE IN $LOCALE!!!!!!" which is why all the scaremongers keep screaming the latter.

We're warned of heatwaves and given instructions on how to not die all the time now. Not once did this occur when I was a child where I live. Record temperatures are more shown as an almanac style this is what's happened today whenever I see them. Personally I wish more scaremongering were happening right now.

there's an app too, some features are paid, and there are some long-standing bugs, but is otherwise quite fine. I use it when I want a map, not just uniform gray void with roads that is google maps.

There's another option. Combining both threads and chronological order.

IMO that should be an option (twitter style, reddit style or chronological style). Wonder if there is browser extension for it.

That said discord kinda does it and I just can't stand it. Unusable to me.

Reddit lets you sort by Best (default), Top (highest raw score), New/Old (chronological), and also Controversial - no add-on required. It's right above the first comment.

"Best" is a time-weighted blend of scoring, so that well-voted but late contributions are more likely to be visible despite fewer overall votes. Certainly not perfect, but helps bias away from "first to comment wins"

Except that most people just go with best. Tons of new comments are shouted into the void, never to be heard by anyone except for a handful of the curious.

Discord threads are just an addon on top of a chat. It's not really a real discussion. And the discord discussions (or whatever it is called) are again flat IIRC? Slack threads are flat. Both are chat platforms first and foremost I would say.

You can have both threaded discussions and chronological ordering of top level comments. It works really well.

These vibes are pretty obvious even with casual use. Weekends are so much better.
