Yeah, that seems to be the general pattern across vi-emulation. However, back when I was on IntellJ stuff (pre vi-emulation), I was already quite deep into the plethora of keyboard shortcuts within IntelliJ, so although you couldn’t do everything with just vi-emulation, you could still do essentially almost everything without leaving the keyboard. Not the same as full blown vim, but it was a solid workflow in my eyes.

The problem is that sometimes declaration of war means bombs are falling on your head. Or you are drafted. Sometimes you want to be a bit ahead of big news.

Which of those aren't related to regulation? Preventing Chinese models from entering our market? Using boogeyman 'distillation' as a means to target competitors? Point 3 is literally about ADDING regulation.

At one point I realized I don’t need plex or jellyfin. All I need is network samba and infuse. It’s supported on all apple devices and works well.

And when you are not home?

We live in the age of Wireguard (and Nebula and Tailscale etc). Not being home is not an issue for accessing stuff at home in the slightest, no other public service port exposure required either. In the context of someone considering hosting a media server of their own at all in the first place vs just using cloud subscription options, remote access is a pretty minimal lift. Assuming they aren't already doing it actually, if anything I could see a lot of selfhosters doing that first for other reasons before adding video later.
