You can absolutely prompt agents not to write tests, or not to write extraneous asserts, or whatever, and I find that generally quite useful for the kind of code I write. I don't think it's "months of users training it", it's more that a lot of people do want a one-shot agent, and having a good test set really helps that.

How did you navigate the world of compliance testing and certification, with all the different countries involved (FCC, UL, etc). Are there any markets you've decided not to sell to as they're not worth the paperwork?
I chose to do FCC only and CE self-certify. If you use pre-certified radios it's not as expensive as you think. $5K should be plenty if you ask around. Just make sure you design your board so you actually pass, and don't let the labs over-sell you. They'll try to!

Yeah, but those Chinese dropshippers don't have significant local presence. If they are caught doing shady stuff they'll just let their $100 letterbox company go bankrupt and start over.
You, on the other hand, would actually have to pay whatever fines some regulator charges you with, because you are physically present in a jurisdiction they can apply power to. This makes self-certification a bit of a footgun: you essentially pinky promise that you fully understood all the relevant rules and regulations, and otherwise pay what in the worst case might be a hundred-thousand-euro fine. Quite a bit of a gamble!
The main saving grace is of course that the authorities are way too busy to investigate some random guy selling a handful of devices from his kitchen. But get too successful, and some competitor might just decide to give them a little hint on exactly what part you missed because you didn't even know you had to comply with it.

Great analogy. Li-ion batteries have several layers of defense against exploding, one of which are vents that, if all else fails, let the hydrogen gas safely escape rather than building up. It's perfectly fair for independent testers to say "we haven't found any flaws in the protection circuitry yet, but we should bypass it to see if the vents work as designed".
I'm not disputing that it's fair to investigate that. What I'm asking is if it's fair to then call it a vulnerability without establishing that the thing is, in fact, vulnerable as a result.
I would say it's like calling the battery a fire hazard if the vents don't work, but actually that's not analogous because the necessity for vents doesn't merely arise from the need to protect against bad design of the protection circuitry. They're needed for safety even if your circuitry design is flawless. So the analogy is actually kind of poor in that regard.
This is why a distinction is often drawn between vulnerabilities and exploits — many more things can be weaknesses in a system that can only be exploited in combination with other vulnerabilities.
An obvious example is web browsers, where a vulnerability can easily be uninteresting because it lives in a sandboxed process… until you find a sandbox escape, then it is critical.
As long as you suspect there may be other vulnerabilities in the other layers, it is worthwhile investigating and fixing them, because defence in depth only works until someone manages to put together a full chain.
If removing the safety from the battery helps you more quickly find ways to put it into over temp, then you put the safety back on and see if any of the previous findings lead to over temp, then yes it is useful.
Most OS will trip up and halt if you "drive off-road" so I'm assuming their bare metal OS gets them back to testing without causing a reboot.
Every TCG buyer I've spoken to is always "up" on cards, though if you dig further you'll find they haven't cashed in any actual gain and are just mentally up based on what they think they could sell them for. While also mentally discarding any losses.
The real winners are probably the people reselling the unopened packs for slightly higher than retail since they have removed the gambling aspect.
You can pretty much be guaranteed to break even if you check the odds of scratch tickets and buy enough of them. You can check how many tickets are left and which prizes are left for a particular game. That's what we did when I went in on a bunch of tickets with some friends.
Speaking of trading cards as a side hustle, a couple of my friends used to drive around the region buying boxes of baseball cards. They'd weigh them to figure out if some specific special cards was in it, return the light boxes, and throw out most of the other cards from the boxes they opened. Now that same card series has unopened boxes going for like $2k
To each their own. I find soldering (with a nice iron!) very therapeutic, much like knitting. I'll put on a good album or catch up with some friends on the phone.
If you're impatient, plenty of fab houses (like JLCPCB) will do all the soldering for you, for about 0.1 cents per SMD joint or 2 cents per THT joint...
The lead is leaded solder is entirely manageable. You should keep track of it all and dispose of it properly. (I.e. not in a landfill.) Wash your hands afterwards. It doesn't vaporize, or at least not in any quantities that you should care about.
As long as you are not directly inhaling in the flux smoke while hovering over the project, it's not that unhealthy. If you are a hobbyist doing an hour of soldering a week, you probably get more smoke particle inhalation making toast. Or pizza. Or frying literally anything.
(If I was soldering for a living, yes I'd want a really good fume extractor on the bench, though.)
